Driven by his passion for sports medicine, he pursued a rigorous Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he refined his expertise in treating athletic injuries and optimizing performance.

With a career dedicated to advancing innovative sports medicine solutions, Dr. Irizarry-Román has served as the Head of Sports Medicine at Mercy Hospital in Miami and has become a trusted physician for athletes across all levels, from recreational competitors to professionals. He is also an active consultant for Univisión’s nightly news program and “Mira Quién Baila”. Affectionately known as “The BoxDoc” in the CrossFit® community, Dr. Irizarry-Román has provided medical coverage for major events such as the Summer Crush Games and Clash of the Fittest.
